There are six of these ducks residing in with our African penguin flock. They arrived in 2014 from the Palm Beach Zoo. In the winter months, you can find them in the Zoo's Aviary in the Main Building.

These ducks live in freshwater lakes, streams, marshes and other flooded areas in the Sub-Saharan Africa and South America. The bicolor species can also be found in the Indian subcontinent, as well as Central America and the Southern U.S.
These birds feed on grains, seeds, crustaceans, mollusks, aquatic insects and plants.
The ducks here are a hybrid between two species of whistling ducks: the fulvous whistling duck (bicolor) and the white-faced whistling duck (viduata).
