Three Brazilian agoutis reside in the Zoo's South American Exhibit in the Main Building. A male was born in January 2010 and arrived at the Zoo in December of 2010. A female born in 2014 arrived in the same year. One of their offspring, born here at the Zoo in 2015, resides with them.

Rainforests or other forests of Northern Brazil. It also has been found in Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana and has been introduced to the Lesser Antilles.
This rodent is an herbivore and consumes mainly fallen fruits and nuts in its habitat.
