There’s a reason Seneca Park Zoo was nominated one of the Best Local Family-Friendly Attractions in Rochester in CITY Newspaper’s 2015 Best of Rochester ballot it’s a place for serious fun, committed to serious conservation efforts. After an awesome opening weekend, we’re getting ready for more ZooBoo on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 & 18. Trick-or-treaters will collect puzzle pieces throughout the Zoo and receive an End Prize of palm oil-free candy, animals will enjoy pumpkin enrichment and there will be lots of photo opportunities and educational activities. 50 cents of every event ticket sold benefits Health in Harmony, a nonprofit working to save orangutans from extinction.
Don’t miss the last October ZooClasses today: register in advance for Animal Shapes for 3-year-olds at 10:15 a.m. and Birds of a Feather for 4 and 5-year-olds at 11:30 a.m. Find information about November and December classes, and register online here.
The Zoo’s conservation efforts are also continuing right in our backyard. Today, October 16, NYSDEC is releasing 1,000 lake sturgeon into the Genesee River as part of our partnership to increase sustainable populations of this endangered species throughout the region.
