At the Zoo - May 21, 2016 / 10:00 am

Learn the impact humans have on lakes, streams, rivers and oceans. Find out how you can protect ecosystems and their waterways, and learn how all species rely on water for life. Enjoy activities and demonstrations for all ages.

ZooTeens and docents will be on grounds to teach guests about many topics including the effect on our waterways of micro-beads, wetland conservation, lake sturgeon and river otter reintroduction programs, and the effect on our oceans of oil spills and the seafood industry. The Monroe County Department of Public Health will also be presenting information about the Rochester Embayment Area of Concern, a restoration project for part of the Genesee River.

At 11:30 a.m. at the Nature Connection Stage, Susan Peterson Gateley, an author of books regarding Great Lakes conservation, will give a talk about threats such as invasive species and pollution.
