Join Seneca Park Zoo in a celebration of the Genesee River with educational activities, cultural experiences, and special animal demonstrations. Guests will learn about the conservation success stories of the river, as well as the Native American culture and history found in the area. Representatives of the Ganondagan State Historic Site and Friends of Ganondagan will be on grounds giving presentations about the Genesee and storytelling throughout the weekend.
Learn about otters, sturgeon, and other animals native to the Genesee River through demonstrations and educational activities with docents and education staff. Conservation groups will also be on grounds to educate guests about ways they can help conserve their local ecosystem: the Monroe County Storm Water Coalition on Saturday, and the Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM) and the Center for Environmental Initiatives on Saturday and Sunday.
Animal demonstrations featuring the North American river otters and presentations by animal care staff and docents will enhance guests’ understanding and appreciation for their local environment. Activities are free with regular Zoo admission.
