Join us on Saturday, October 12 for SAFE Penguin Day. Seneca Park Zoo participates in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) SAFE Program for the endangered African penguin. SAFE, or Saving Animals from Extinction, seeks to save the most vulnerable wildlife species for future generations. Enjoy special experiences throughout the day to learn about the Zoo’s colony of African penguins and hear directly from keeper staff about what it’s like to care for them.
Learn about the threats African penguins face in nature, such as oil spills and over-fishing, and find out how you can help protect them by practicing responsible consumerism and supporting the Zoo’s longtime conservation partner, SANCCOB, a nonprofit organization working to save seabirds.
For a donation to SANCCOB’s Penguin and Seabird Rangers Initiative, enter multiple drawings with a chance at winning prizes, including a painting made by the Zoo’s African penguins!
