Giraffe Feedings

Feed the giraffes at Seneca Park Zoo

Are you ready to come face-to-face with the world’s tallest land mammal? Giraffe feedings are now being offered at Seneca Park Zoo! Feedings take place at the giraffe feeding platform in the Animals of the Savanna area and provide guests with an unforgettable, up-close encounter with the Zoo’s three Masai giraffes – Iggy, Kipenzi, and Parker.

The giraffes are still training, so the tickets are limited, and subject to cancellation based on weather and giraffe cooperation.

Feedings are offered five days a week:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday
Times: 11:45 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.

For whom?

For anyone! Each person on the feeding deck needs to have their own ticket, with the exception of children 2 and under in the arms of the “feeder”. The feeding deck is also wheelchair accessible.

How Much?

Tickets are $5 per person and can only be purchased at the Savanna Outpost.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get tickets?

  • When you get to the Zoo, it will be posted at the Front Gate if giraffe feedings are happening and available. Tickets to the giraffe feedings are only sold at the Savanna Outpost and cannot be purchased ahead of time.

What will I be feeding the giraffes?

  • You will be given food from the keepers, based on the diets of the giraffes. They will vary by day and could include items like carrots or lettuce. Only food provided by the keepers may be used during the feedings.

Can my family do it together?

  • Each person on the feeding deck needs to have their own ticket, with the exception of toddlers 2 and under in the arms of the “feeder”. Everyone other than kids 2 and under in the arms of an adult need a ticket. Only five (5) ticket holders are allowed on deck at the same time.

Why are tickets so limited?

  • The giraffes are young, and are just being trained to eat from people other than their keepers. We are optimistic that in time, they will be more comfortable and therefore more tickets will be offered.

What if they don’t eat or it rains?

  • If you have purchased a ticket for a feeding and the giraffes are not participating or it’s cancelled due to weather, you can get a refund at the Savanna Outpost with your receipt and tickets.

What if I miss my time?

  • It’s important that you arrive promptly for your feeding time. If you miss it, and the feeding happens, the ticket will be non-refundable and non-transferable.
