Giraffe Feedings

Feed the giraffes at Seneca Park Zoo

Are you ready to come face-to-face with the world’s tallest land mammal? Giraffe feedings are now being offered at Seneca Park Zoo! Feedings take place at the giraffe feeding platform in the Animals of the Savanna area and provide guests with an unforgettable, up-close encounter with the Zoo’s three Masai giraffes – Iggy, Kipenzi, and Parker.

Giraffe feeding tickets are limited and often sell out. The feedings are subject to cancellation based on weather and giraffe cooperation.

When?

Now through Veterans Day (Nov. 11), feedings will only be offered three days a week:
Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Feedings will also be offered on Columbus Day (Oct. 14).

How Much?

Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the Front Gate, ZooShop and at the Savanna Outpost (on the days it is open). Tickets are limited.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get tickets?

  • Ticket sales begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Front Gate, ZooShop and at the Savanna Outpost (on the days it is open). Tickets sales stop at the admissions booth and ZooShop 30 minutes before the feeding time.

What will I be feeding the giraffes?

  • You will be given food from the keepers, based on the diets of the giraffes. They will vary by day and could include items like carrots or lettuce. Only food provided by the keepers may be used during the feedings.

Can my family do it together?

  • Each person on the feeding deck needs to have their own ticket, with the exception of toddlers 2 and under in the arms of the “feeder”. Everyone other than kids 2 and under in the arms of an adult need a ticket. Only five (5) ticket holders are allowed on deck at the same time.

I have a service animal. Can it come with me for the giraffe feeding?

  • No, service animals are not allowed on the giraffe feeding deck due to close proximity to the animals.

Can I buy tickets ahead of time?

  • No given the nature of this program, you can only buy tickets in person on the day you would like to participate.

What if they don’t eat or it rains?

  • If you purchased a ticket and the keepers say that the feeding isn’t happening because the giraffes aren’t participating or the feeding is cancelled due to weather, you can get a refund with your receipt and tickets on the day of the feeding.

What if I miss my time?

  • It’s important that you arrive promptly for your feeding time. If you miss it, and the feeding happens, the ticket will be non-refundable and non-transferable.

Are individuals with a 1:1 aide able to do giraffe feedings?

  • Yes, if an individual has a 1:1 aide, they can come onto the feeding deck with the person they support (without purchasing their own ticket).  In this case, the aide should identify themselves when purchasing the ticket for the individual.
