SUMMARY:Environmental Innovation Awards & Symposium
DESCRIPTION:As summer winds down and the school year gets ready to start back up\, we hope you can make time to come out for some of our last summer programming opportunities here at the Zoo. This year in honor of Labor Day Weekend\, we are celebrating all the labor that goes into keeping the Zoo running!  In addition to our normal Summer Programming animal schedule\, this weekend will also feature tabling with various activities & learning opportunities including enrichment making stations\, equipment & tools used around the Zoo\, a mini ‘Zoo Olympics’ activity\, tours in our commissary and elephant barn\, and a look back at all the conservation organizations our community helped us raise money for this past season – and the opportunity to chip in to your favorite causes!  Onsite we will be accepting donations to any of the previous conservation organizations we have fundraised for throughout the summer\, while online we will be raising money specifically for our own animal enrichment fund to support the enrichment of the animals in our care! For every $5 donated you will be automatically entered to win an elephant-made painting OR a behind-the-scenes tour of our river otter habitat! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Donate to the Zoo's Animal Enrichment Fund!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Special Weekend Opportunities \n \n \n \n \n \n Commissary Kitchen Tour\n Elephant Barn Tour\n Zoo Olympics Activity\n \n \n Commissary Kitchen Tour\n When: Saturday & Sunday 11:30 -12:30 p.m. (stop by during that timeframe open house style)  What: Come see behind-the-scenes of our kitchen/meal prep area where the work never stops making sure the animals in our care are all provided healthy\, fulfilling meals.  \n Elephant Barn Tour\n When: Monday 11:30 -12:30 p.m. (stop by during that timeframe open house style)  What: Come see inside out elephant barn and learn a little about the ins and outs of caring for these massive mammals!  \n Zoo Olympics Activity\n When: Saturday & Sunday from 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. & 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. Where: Grass across from rhino habitat What: See how fast you can do a variety of ‘zoo tasks’ our staff has to do every day!
