DESCRIPTION:Join two zoo naturalists for our City Nature Challenge BioBlitz nature hikes in some of Rochester’s beautiful parks. This hike will take place on April 26th from 1 p.m. -3 p.m. at Highland Park.  The goal of these Bioblitz’s is to document the variety of plant\, animal\, and fungal species that exist in and around the City of Rochester. We will hike through these parks and stop to document the organisms we find on the iNaturalist App. Throughout the hike we will give you opportunities to go out and explore areas on your own to see what you are able find. \n\nRegister for Nature Hike\n \nThe City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. It’s a bioblitz-style competition where cities are in a contest against each other to see who can make the most observations of nature\, who can find the most species\, and who can engage the most people. SUMMARY:Invasive Species Early Detection Hike - Highland Park (11/13)
DESCRIPTION:Highland Park – November 13 / 10:00 am\n\n\n\n\nJoin zoo naturalists and members of the community on a hike Sunday\, November 13th from 10:00 am-11:00 am at Highland Park (Parking Lot off of South Ave) to learn about and find invasive species in our local area. An invasive species is a species of non-native plant or animal that can disrupt the balance\, biodiversity\, and overall health of native plants and animals. The Seneca Park Zoo Society has teamed up with the Finger Lakes Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (FL-PRISM) to find\, report\, and educate the public on these invasive species by hiking through this area of Rochester that has not yet been surveyed. \n\n\nRegister Here
