Animal Care Volunteer

Becoming an Animal Care Volunteer provides an introductory experience for those interested in a career working in the animal field.

If you’re looking to use your time and talents to make a difference, Seneca Park Zoo Is the place for you. Volunteering at your local Association of Zoo’s & Aquariums accredited zoo is a rewarding and exciting experience!

The Zoo is seeking volunteers to work side-by-side with our Animal Care staff as they perform their daily routine. Animal Care Staff is responsible for the care and feeding of zoo animals, and the upkeep and maintenance of their habitats. Work is performed both inside and outside in all weather conditions year-round. To be eligible, Volunteers must be 18+,  able to commit to one full shift (8hrs), or two half shifts (4hrs) per week, provide a current TB test, and lift to 40 pounds.

There is a fee of $20 due upon acceptance to participate in the Seneca Park Zoo volunteer program. This fee covers the cost of:

  • Volunteer t-shirt
  • Name tag
  • Training class
