Deaf Culture Awareness Day is a day dedicated to inclusivity, connection, and spotlighting the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Celebrate Deaf Culture at the Zoo
In partnership with Rochester School for the Deaf and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, and Sign and Speak this annual event invites guests of all ages to explore the Zoo while engaging with Deaf culture through interactive experiences, educational opportunities, and accessible programming. ASL interpreters will be on site throughout the day, and many Zoo talks and demonstrations will include interpretation to ensure everyone can fully participate and enjoy their visit.

Nature Cart: Dive into the world of birding! We'll teach you all about how to spot/identify birds using the Merlin Birding App, how to invite birds to your backyard, and to maintain your bird houses.
Interactive Activity: Guests will have a chance to support local ecosystems by making their own pinecone bird feeders!
