Giraffe Feedings

Are you ready to come face-to-face with the world’s tallest land mammal? Giraffe feedings are now being offered at Seneca Park Zoo! Feedings take place at the giraffe feeding platform in the Animals of the Savanna area and provide guests with an unforgettable, up-close encounter with two of the Zoo’s Masai giraffes – Iggy and Kipenzi.

Giraffe feedings operate seasonally, running Memorial Day through Labor Day. Giraffe feeding tickets are limited and often sell out. The feedings are subject to cancellation based on weather and giraffe cooperation.

Tickets: $5 per person

When?

Giraffe Feedings Schedule: Thursday-Monday at 11:45 am and 2:45 pm (feeding heavily dependent on giraffe cooperation and may be canceled). Operates seasonally typically Memorial Day through Labor Day.

For Whom?

All guests must have a ticket. Children 3-11 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult (and also have a ticket for themselves). No one under 3 will be allowed on the giraffe feeding deck. No babies in arms.

How Much?

Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the Savanna Outpost (on the days it is happening). Tickets are limited.

FAQs

Ticket sales begin at 9:30 a.m. for members and 10 a.m. for non-members. They are available at the Savanna Outpost. Tickets sales are limited in capacity.

You will be given food from the keepers, based on the diets of the giraffes. They will vary by day and could include items like carrots or lettuce. Only food provided by the keepers may be used when feeding zoo animals.

Each person on the feeding deck needs to have their own ticket. Only five (5) ticket holders are allowed on deck at the same time.

No, service animals are not allowed on the giraffe feeding deck due to close proximity to the zoo animals.

No given the nature of this program, you can only buy tickets in person on the day you would like to participate.

If you purchased a ticket and the keepers say that the feeding isn’t happening because the giraffes aren’t participating or the feeding is cancelled due to weather, you can get a refund with your receipt and tickets on the day of the feeding.

It’s important that you arrive promptly for your feeding time. If you miss it, and the feeding happens, the ticket will be non-refundable and non-transferable.

Yes, if an individual has a 1:1 aide, they can come onto the feeding deck with the person they support (without purchasing their own ticket).  In this case, the aide should identify themselves when purchasing the ticket for the individual.
